Brazilian Music with Thomas George Caracas Garcia

This program features Brazilian classical and popular music by some of Brazil’s best-known composers, including Heitor Villa-Lobos, Pixinguinha, Jacó do Bandolim, Baden-Powell, and Chiquinha Gonzaga. Dr. Garcia is joined in this program by Oxford’s own Doug Hamilton and Noah Cope, Miami faculty members Aaron Pergram, Chris Tanner, and Ricardo Averbach, and Brazilian graduate student Matheus Silva de Souza. Dr. Garcia will be performing on instruments he recently built as part of a research project at the University of Aveiro in Portugal.
